4/19/78 ~ sunset. a heavy cloud cover and strong winds all day; i worked on the sleeping loft, and it is all paneled now. a brief trip into dutch flat to get food, during which there came a brief thunderstorm, hail, incredibly intense rain. now the clouds cap the ridges, as always giant gap and the south rim of the canyon being enveloped first, moody ridge and the north rim lagging.”

4/19/81 Rainy morning…

Went to the pinnacles Thursday with Terry and Rita, two friends of Marsha. It was a nice excursion, with several eagle sightings. I managed to lock the keys in the car just before we left, which was an adventure in itself: poking twigs in around corners of the rear windows to release the catch. We got it after about an hour.”

April 19, 1986 Saturday morning. Sunny and cool; quintessential Spring. Yesterday Bob Pfister and I went down to Smart's Crossing [on the Bear River] and did some work on the road. The river is still very high, much higher than I would've thought; I wonder if a release was happening or perhaps more than the usual amount of water was being run through Drum powerhouse.”

Yesterday Greg & I took my dad down to the Indiana Hill Pit, just following the old road down, then into the diggings and through the tunnel. He enjoyed it and did pretty well for an old guy.”
