Maps; and Big Rocks

7/13/76 ~ before dawn in canyonland. the moon, just past full, hangs over the ridge, and the high country ridges are sharply silhouetted.

[...] I am ready to go to work and finish my water tank, run my water line down to the building site, and begin building. Although the design hasn't gelled. But there is still plenty of preparatory stuff to do ~ a bunch of small oak trees to cut up into firewood for next winter. I will build a cabin this summer.”

July 13, 1985 the past year has been very interesting and fruitful for me, though not without its problems, some of which have had a rather dreadful character.

[...]

Concerned with the loss of access to Smart's Crossing, I took Ed and Tina and Bill Newsom down there to see the damage, the gate, etc. This led to a lawsuit against the property owner, which is still in progress, and seems likely to bear positive results. Ed's firm has been doing it on a pro bono basis, and without them the community would've lost Smart's for sure.”

7/13/87 [...]

The thimbleberries are sweet, raspberry-like, raspberry-colored, not abundant, unfortunately.

[...]

Received a letter from Geri Larson, informing me that because the Corral Springs sale is already under contract, no appeal and no stay is possible.”

  1. Hi Gay, Cindy Goldman told me about your Book of
Days last Spring. I subscribed to Russell's Email for three years and met you briefly at
Remembering Russell. Thanks for putting this all
    together and saving it.
