Rainbows and Larkspurs

3/12/78    morning. yesterday [...] towards the end of the day a lovely rainbow glowed arching to the east. we finally got the stove set up after getting rained on while up on the roof.

during the night it snowed lightly up on top of the ridge, and now while cloud sheets play in the canyon the fresh dusting of white remains.

3/12/81   another clear day. Lora and Jim are here. Yesterday began clear—a few tiny cumulus puffs by 10:00 AM—huge cumulonimbus by 2:00 PM—lightning and thunder over Humbug Canyon. We went to Casa Loma for the sunset—I told them we'd see a rainbow, and we did—half of one, anyway, plunging into the N. Fk. canyon near Euchre Bar.

Today we go skiing. We went the other day to Castle Peak. [...] Jim and Lora are interested in buying land in this area.

Hi Karen,

I was in to Canyon Creek over the weekend and saw some new flowers. Larkspurs, and a new umbellifer. The Brewer's Rock Cress are getting leggy, the Milkmaids have finished.

If you would like to visit the area before the April 7 hike let me know. The early part of this week looks good, weather-wise.
